Dougie Freedman should target reunion with free agent Matt Mills at Nottingham Forest this summer

The defender is out of contract with Bolton Wanderers this summer.

At the weekend Nottingham Forest took on Bolton Wanderers in a game which saw Dougie Freedman take on his former club, and get one over on the employers who sacked him.

Forest won 4-1 and a former player of Freedman's at Bolton was sent off in the game, with Matt Mills given his marching orders. However, it was also reported at the weekend that Mills might be a transfer target for Forest.

The report came from Italian site Tutto Mercato Web, and it was rather vague, so do not take it as verbatim.

But it begs the question, should Forest target Mills?

The Bolton man is undoubtedly talented, as he has shown in the past - in particular during a spell at Reading.

Freedman knows him already from their time working together at the Macron Stadium and would therefore have no trouble contacting him and convincing him of the move.

Mills has played in the area already. He may want to forget it about it now, but he did spend time at Leicester City in what was a rather unsuccessful period.

However, with Jamaal Lascelles on his way to Newcastle United in the summer and Mills a free agent, as his contract expires with the Trotters in June, this one would appear to be a no-brainer.
