Norwich City's free-scoring strikers have proved they can provide the goals for a promotion push.
Since the arrival of Alex Neil at Carrow Road, Norwich have surged up the Championship table into fifth and are currently on a five-game winning run, the latest installment of which saw them come from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park for the first time since August 1993.
In all but one game that Norwich have scored in since Neil’s arrival at least one striker has scored, and on six occasions more than one has found the back of the net.
The table below shows that Gary Hooper, Cameron Jerome and Lewis Grabban have contributed 14 goals since Neil's arrival, and the clinical finishing of these three strikers will have to continue if the Norfolk side hope to further their push for promotion.
Position | Team | Goals | Total Scoring Att | Ontarget Scoring Att | Shot Off Target | Appearances | Mins Played | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Gary Hooper | FW | Norwich | 5 | 12 | 7 | 2 | 8 | 467 |
Cameron Jerome | FW | Norwich | 5 | 16 | 11 | 5 | 9 | 442 |
Lewis Grabban | FW | Norwich | 4 | 20 | 13 | 7 | 8 | 512 |
The Canaries also have the luxury of goal scoring midfielders, with Bradley Johnson, Nathan Redmond and Jonny Howson also contributing five goals between them since the arrival of their new manager from north of the boarder.
Despite a blip at the end of January – where Norwich lost at home to Brentford and drew away against Birmingham – Neil’s Norwich look like robust promotion challengers in their current free-scoring form.
Position | Team | Goals | Appearances | Mins Played | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bradley Johnson | MF | Norwich | 2 | 9 | 810 |
Nathan Redmond | MF | Norwich | 2 | 9 | 647 |
Jonny Howson | MF | Norwich | 1 | 6 | 514 |
