Jose Enrique shows support for Barcelona and Luis Suarez on Twitter

The Spaniard was happy to see his former team-mate play well last night.

Manchester City were defeated by FC Barcelona last night in the Champions League, after two goals from Luis Suarez saw the Spanish side claim an important and potentially crucial first-leg victory.

For many a Premier League player they would have been supporting their counterparts City. However, that is of course not the case for everybody. One such player is Jose Enrique.

The Liverpool defender is no longer playing in the competition himself after his side were dumped out of the Champions League at the Group Stage.

But as a Spaniard he clearly had his heart set on Barcelona defeating his Premier League rivals City.

The Liverpool defender Tweeted, before the game kicked off last night, this supportive message for the Catalan giants:

Things got even better for him of course. Suarez is of course a former team-mate of his at Liverpool and he was clearly pleased to see the Uruguayan score the all important brace that might just see Barca through:

Liverpool fans and the likes of Enrique however will no doubt be wondering if Liverpool would still be in the competition if Suarez did not leave Anfield in the summer.
