Liverpool media round-up, Ibe faces big decision, Allen confident ahead of Europa clash

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Tuesday morning.

Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has a big decision to make when it comes to his international career according to the Liverpool Echo.

They report that the 19-year-old could be eligible for both Nigeria and England with the former said to be hoping he turns his back on England having represented them at under-20 level.

The Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi is quoted, saying: “I’ve been told he is a very good prospect with potential to become one of the best wingers in the world.

“I have not had time to watch him in any of his club’s games but definitely I will do so this season.”

Ibe has been impressive ever since returning from his loan spell at Derby County and has shown he could be a big player for the Reds moving forward.

After getting a crucial win against Southampton at the weekend, Joe Allen is quoted in several media outlets proclaiming the Reds are back to their best after a difficult start to the season.

They have managed to close the gap on the Premier League's top four to two points and are in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Next up is a potentially gruelling trip to Istanbul to take on Besiktas in the Europa League second leg, with the Reds holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg at Anfield thanks to a Mario Balotelli penalty as they aim to make it through to the last 16.

Allen is hopeful of finishing the job, saying: “Half the job is done against Besiktas. It is a tough tie to go out to Turkey but we feel we have the talent and ability to overcome that task.”
