Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera feels two youngsters are vital for the future of the club.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has told the Manchester Evening News the two players he feels are going to be vital for the future of the side.

Herrera has admitted that he’s been surprised by the standard of the club’s academy, as he gets his teeth into hopefully a very long Old Trafford career over the coming years.

“I didn't know how good the academy is here. Adnan Januzaj and Andreas Pereira are young players for Manchester United that are going to be very important players for many years,” said Herrera.

Januzaj has been used inconsistently by van Gaal, with seven starts and seven sub appearances in the Premier League.

He’s been used in a variety of different midfield positions, predominantly off of the left hand side, as van Gaal searches for the best way to use him.

He’s still only 20-years-old and has time on his side and if he’s developed in the right way, there’s no reason he can’t play a big part in the club’s future.

Andreas Pereira is a similar player, currently searching for a first team chance, which he’s yet to get consistently from United’s manager.

Van Gaal has based several sides throughout his career on having very young and long term options in key positions.

If he can keep both players happy and at the club, they could get a chance to form the basis of the attack if the pressure is off towards the end of the season.
