Former Lyon coach Remi Garde has explained to the Chronicle why he can’t talk about Newcastle United.
The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to the Magpies before John Carver was appointed as manager until the end of the season.
He’s been quiet since and has explained his silence while confirming that he’s ready to come back into top flight management.
“I have a duty of confidentiality in this matter to Newcastle then I’ll be very honest and very integrated with respect to the leaders of Newcastle, I cannot say more,” said Garde.
“I can easily say that I loved this coaching experience.”
Whether Garde is the man who will replace Carver in the summer remains to be seen.
Carver’s position at the top of the Newcastle food chain will be strengthened if he guides the Magpies to a top eight finish.
His main aim will be to get them into, and to keep them in, the top half of the table, consolidating there ahead of the summer where changes can be made to the playing squad.
If Newcastle don’t extend Carver’s deal, Garde is a candidate to come in and stamp his own influence on the squad looking ahead to the next campaign.
However, the only focus at the moment will be how the team can improve on the drubbing they were given by Manchester City last weekend.
