The 22-year-old made the comment following the Rams’ 3-2 comeback victory over Sheffield Wednesday at the iPro Stadium in the Championship on Saturday.
It was Derby’s first win in four competitive games and saw them return to the top of the league table, two points clear of Middlesbrough, who are second at the moment.
Thorne, who started the encounter and played for 62 minutes, has now underlined the need to build on the victory over the Owls.
“We took note of the results after the game," the youngster told Derby’s official website. "Everything went for us, but we have been in this position before and so have other teams.
“This will count for nothing if we can’t back it up. We need to build some momentum and we need to back this up on Tuesday and beyond.”
Derby are back in Championship action on Tuesday when they host Charlton Athletic at the iPro Stadium.
The Addicks are currently in the bottom half of the league table, but they have come into some good form recently.

Derby will be favourites to win against Charlton, but they should not get complacent and need to be defensively stronger.
