Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci had a fabulous game as the Whites defeated Championship promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside stadium.
The former Catania star joined the Elland Road outfit in the summer for a sizeable sum for a second-tier defender and began the season under pressure following a number of negative incidents.
However, in recent weeks he is beginning to show his true colours and once again on Saturday he put in a wonderful defensive performance which eclipsed that of Boro star Kalas.
Czech defender Kalas has made big strides at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues have allowed him to move out on loan in order to gain regular first-team experience.
He has been a rock for Aitor Karanka’s men, but on Saturday he was powerless to prevent a Bellusci-inspired Leeds victory.

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, both defenders had a busy afternoon but Boro’s relentless pressure ultimately proved in vain against a solid visiting defence.
Bellusci recorded better numbers than Kalas in tackles, interceptions, ball recoveries and effective clearances – achieving a whopping 18.
The Blues loanee did win his fair share of aerial duels up against lone striker Steve Morison, and playing out of the back he completed 68.6% of his intended passes.
However, the day belongs to Neil Redfearn’s men and their 25-year-old central defender who alongside Sol Bamba is really starting to show his worth.
The victory was the Yorkshire side’s fifth in six Championship matches and lifts them to 11th spot in the table, 15 points behind the play-off positions with 14 games remaining.
