According to a report in the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay £10million if they want to sign Ignacio Camacho from Malaga.
The report claims Tottenham have watched the 24-year-old defensive midfielder six times already this season and that they are willing to pay around £5million for him.
But the story goes on to claim that the La Liga side are seeking double that amount for a player whose contract runs until the summer of 2019.
With that in mind, Malaga will be in no rush to sell and will know they hold all the cards when it comes to negotiating a potential move away from Spain.
Camacho has played 134 matches for Malaga, scoring 13 goals and providing five assists in that time. He has also turned out 50 times for Atletico Madrid and he has both experience and time on his side given that he should soon be reaching his peak.
Tottenham have plenty of midfield options to choose from right now, with Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason the current first-choice pairing. But Spurs appear to have lost faith in the likes of Benjamin Stambouli and Etienne Capoue and a new defensive midfielder would not go amiss, especially when you consider the number of matches Tottenham are likely to have to play again next season.
