The former Tottenham Hotspur boss came out all guns blazing this week. But supporters of the club see things a little differently...
The former Spurs coach was buoyant when it came to his record at the north London club and emphasised the fact that no other Tottenham manager (he claims) possesses a better win ratio at White Hart Lane than him.
Along with plenty of other comments from the 45-year-old, the outspoken Aston Villa coach said:
“I don’t think anyone’s managed to better my win record, even this guy Pochettino, and everyone’s talking about how well he’s done.
“It’s all about man-management, how to get the most out of players, and I did that at Tottenham because my record suggests I did.
“I think Pochettino has done a really good job there but mine’s still up there to be shot at. Experience is overrated. If it was all about experience Wayne Rooney wouldn’t play for Everton at 16.
“Guardiola didn’t have to go out and work in the lower leagues, did he?"
More of the same, then, in terms of what we've come to expect from the former Tottenham boss.
But his claims haven't exactly been well received by Spurs readers of HITC Sport. Indeed, the comments poured in after his quotes to reporters and many fans have not only criticised Sherwood but called him on his figures.
Taking into account games in other competitions, it would appear the Aston Villa boss's record has indeed been bettered by other Tottenham coaches.
The 45-year-old, though, often seems in a world of his own. Here's a selection of some of the comments produced by Spurs fans in response to Sherwood's claims...
Enorme Nuez says: April 11th... Spurs vs. Villa at White Hart Lane.
Tim Sherwood is aggressively and proudly ignorant of basic football tactics...If you are an insane person who doesn't understand football, uses the word YOLO in everyday conversation, and appreciates heart, grit, and effort, then Tim is the manager for you. But you're probably not that person.
Anon says: You don't have to be a pro to realise that Sherwood is being selective, if you take his win rate in all competitions and not just the PL he then holds no record at all. This shows the man up for what he is.
Tottingham says: I hear he takes all the credit for Kane & Bentaleb playing well now. Give the man a Nobel prize as he is the greatest manager in the world ever and Ferguson/ Guardiola/ Mourinho are all over-rated with all that prize experience. Mercy
Michael Corvus says: Sherwood's last 12 Premiership matches as Spurs gaffer saw him held scoreless in 5 of them (vs Norwich, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham). No one seems to remember.
Timmy's " most winning manager" boasting depends on cooked numbers. He conveniently omits his cup game record when comparing himself to the full records of other Spurs managers. When you re-insert the cup games, the records compare like this:
1. Andre Villa Boas 67.5%
2. Harry Redknapp 62.12%
3. David Pleat 59.09%
4. Peter Shreeves 58.55%
5. Martin Jol 57.72%
6. Tim Sherwood 57.14%
So you see, he's not even in the top 5. Timmy has some serious personality disorder problems. He's petty, dishonest, insecure, self-promoting … therefore quick to open his mouth to ridicule others to try and build himself up. Would never get stuck with him on a road trip ...
