Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has been speaking to the club’s official website about a player who is vital to the club when they play away from home.
Olivier Giroud scored his 50th goal for the Gunners this weekend, netting his 11th of this campaign in the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The win was hard-fought and much-needed, with the Gunners still competing in three competitions and desperate to finish in the top four come May.
Away matches in the English top flight are always unpredictable affairs, and Cazorla believes Arsenal have one player in particular who is vital when they play away from the Emirates Stadium.
“He’s very important for us in these games,” the Spaniard said of Giroud, “because we sometimes need to play long balls.
“He can keep the ball and (draw) fouls and he’s a good header of the ball.”
As much as Arsenal are about intricate play and pass-and-move football, Wenger knows that away from home that is not always possible, and in Giroud they have a player who offers them something different, something vital in their pursuit of more silverware to go with last season’s long-overdue FA Cup.
