Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking following his side’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United, with the comments later published on the club’s official Twitter account.
Spurs came from two goals down to equalise with the last kick of the game, as goals from Danny Rose and Harry Kane cancelled out earlier strikes from the Hammers’ Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho.
Tottenham have made a habit of coming back from losing positions this season and this weekend was no different, but what did Pochettino think of his side’s efforts?
“We showed character and never gave up,” he said. “It wasn’t our best game but it’s important to show character.
“The important thing is that we finished the game and improved our performance.”
That is certainly true, but with the games getting increasingly important Tottenham supporters may worry that their club’s luck will run out at the vital time.
A League Cup final against Chelsea is on the horizon and if they allow Jose Mourinho’s side to take a healthy lead at Wembley it will be very hard to claw it back, while their Europa League opponents will be getting increasingly tough as that competition progresses.
For now Tottenham are showing the character that could make all the difference come May, but winning a few games comfortably and in good time may go down a treat at White Hart Lane right now.
