The Camp Nou side suffered a surprise 1-0 loss to Malaga at home yesterday, with the Argentine ineffective.

Barcelona’s 11-match winning streak came to an end yesterday as Luis Enrique’s men slipped up against Malaga in La Liga.

An early goal from the visitors was enough to seal a 1-0 victory at Camp Nou and dent the Blaugrana’s hopes of becoming Spanish champions this season.

Lionel Messi had an ineffective game, putting an end to an exhilarating run of personal form that the Argentine has shown since the turn of the year.

The South American attacker had contributed 23 goals and assists in the 11 games leading up to yesterday’s encounter but could not provide the inspiration to take Barca to the top of the La Liga standings.

Barcelona and Messi now travel to England to face Manchester City in the first leg of a mouthwatering Champions League clash.

The La Liga giants eliminated the Etihad Stadium outfit from last season’s competition and as such the hosts will have revenge at the forefront of their thoughts.
