Celtic fans react on Twitter to Efe Ambrose's display v Hamilton

The Nigerian was handed a start in the SPL this afternoon.

Celtic ran out comfortable 4-0 winners in the SPL this afternoon against Hamilton Academical at Parkhead. Ambrose has not been as regular a first-team fixture as he was last season at Celtic.

He has played 17 SPL games this season, sitting on the bench for another 10.

With good reason. The 26-year-old has not been in his best form this season and fans at Celtic have grown wary of his sometimes clumsy displays.

So there was a mixed reaction when he was named in the starting XI for today's game, with one eye on the Europa League second leg against Inter Milan on Thursday night.

But the Nigerian was certainly not as bad as everyone feared he would be. He put in a rather solid performance at right-back, leaving many a doubter red-faced.

His crossing in particular was impressive, as he whipped in terrific deliveries throughout the game. He was certainly not afraid to push on into the attacking third and yes, at times did still look dodgy, but it was certainly one of his better performances this season.

He had to slot back into centre-back in the second-half, after Adam Matthews replaced Jason Denayer in the half-time break. He again looked to be having a good day, rather than one of his more infamous off days and that was the general consensus on Twitter.

Here are some of the best Tweets on the performance of the Celtic defender:
