Arsenal linked with Tottenham target Fernando Llorente - why it won’t happen

Tutto Mercato Web have stated that the Spain international is in the Gunners sights, but surely Arsene Wenger already has a player in his ilk?

Tottenham and Arsenal have both been linked relatively consistently with a move for Fernando Llorente over the years, with Spurs said to be monitoring his situation recently.

However, Tutto Mercato Web have stated that the Gunners are also keen on the Spain international and will make a move to sign him from Juventus this summer.

There is no doubting Llorente’s quality or track record, but whether or not the burly forward would be a good signing for Arsenal remains to be seen.

Arsene Wenger already has Olivier Giroud on the club’s book, who is a similar player to the Spaniard given their respective styles of play and physique.

However, the Frenchman has been in improved form and is the younger of the two strikers, making any potential Arsenal bid for Llorente seem unlikely.

The former Athletic Bilbao man is not an automatic starter in the Turin giants’ first team, but he surely would not be afforded that luxury at the Emirates Stadium either and as such does not seem like a player that Arsene Wenger’s men should be looking at ahead of next season.
