Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Ander Herrera's performance against Swansea

Manchester United fans were full of praise for midfielder Ander Herrera despite their defeat to Swansea City.

Manchester United's push for a Champions League place hit a stumbling block today as Swansea City came out winners as the two sides met at the Liberty Stadium.

United took the lead in the first half thanks to a smart finish from Ander Herrera, but they were pegged back just two minutes later as Ki Sung-yueng equalised for Swansea.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the second half, but it was Garry Monk's side who claimed all three points when ex-Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey struck the ball goalwards, and after a deflection from Bafetimbi Gomis, Swansea had their winning goal.

The result leaves United in fourth place after Arsenal's win over Crystal Palace, and they could fall further if Southampton beat Liverpool on Sunday.

There wasn't much to celebrate for United fans today, but their fans were full of praise for midfielder Herrera after the game - and not just for his goal.

The Spaniard has been in and out of the United side despite producing a number of impressive performances, and fans were pleading with manager Louis van Gaal to play the summer signing more often.

Fans suggested that the former Athletic Bilbao man was the only positive of the game, and that he should be starting every game from now until the end of the season.
