The former midfielder feels the Jamaica captain is of great importance to Neil Redfearn's Leeds side.
Austin is highly rated by boss Neil Redfearn and it appears the Leeds head coach isn't the only one.
Indeed, Muamba praised the 29-year-old's strength and power and singled him out for praise on social media during the Middlesbrough clash.
Austin strength and power is a big outlet for Leeds United. http://t.co/Jgb5Y4Cym2— fabrice muamba (@fmuamba) February 21, 2015
Muamba's comment is understandable as Austin's animated bursts forward are often eye-catching in nature. The Leeds man powers past opponents and always has one aim - get the ball into the opponent's half.

As Opta stats show, though, Austin was by no means Leeds United's star or most influential player.
The 29-year-old did impress against Middlesbrough, however, enjoying one of his better games for the Yorkshire side.
But he and his team-mates had their work cut out trying to outshine the likes of Marco Silvestri, Sol Bamba or Giuseppe Bellusci, who were simply brilliant at the Riverside.
Leeds are now well and truly a side in form and travel to Brighton for their next Championship clash on Tuesday night. The sky appears the limit for Austin and co right now - and, if Redfearn's men can consistently produce like this next term, something special could be on the horizon.
