The Tottenham Hotspur defender scored the winner when the two sides met earlier this season.
It's not often a defender can look ahead to the visit of a rival and say they scored the winner the last time the two sides met.
But that's exactly the situation facing the 21-year-old this time around, as West Ham visit White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
In the league opener for Spurs, Dier found himself netting a late winner after being switched to right-back following the sending off of Kyle Naughton.
As he freely admits, the goal against West Ham came as a shock to him - even though he scored again in Tottenham's next game.
"My Premier League debut, my official debut for Tottenham and obviously I scored the winner. It was a great day for me," Dier told Spurs TV.
"I don't score too many, it was a shock!
"They've improved massively since we played them so it's going to be an even tougher game than the one we had at Upton Park."
The 21-year-old has since established himself as a contender for a first-team spot at centre-back at the very least. In many people's eyes, Dier is Mauricio Pochettino's best option to partner Jan Vertonghen and he may well get another start against West Ham on Sunday.
Whether the Tottenham man will enjoy quite the game he did on his debut remains to be seen...
