Could this ex-Arsenal flop dent the Gunners top-four hopes today?

Marouane Chamakh will take on his former club for Crystal Palace and will be motivated to get one over the North Londoners.

Arsenal’s ambitions to finish in the top four continue to hang in the balance week-to-week, with the Gunners travelling to face Crystal Palace today.

The Gunners won’t face loan star Yaya Sanogo, who is illegible to face his parent club, but one familiar face looks likely to line-up in Alan Pardew’s attack.

Marouane Chamakh was on the Gunners books for a number of seasons but failed to establish himself as a first-team regular with Arsene Wenger’s men.

After a failed stint at West Ham, the 31-year-old has been given the chance to play relatively regularly at Palace this season, starting 13 Premier League goals but only scoring once.

It would be a cruel irony if the misfiring Chamakh was to put a dent in Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four by inspiring his side to victory at Selhurst Park today.

Here is a trip back down memory lane and some of the best photos of Chamakh in Arsenal’s colours.
