Leeds legend dismisses play-off chances

Leeds United legend Andy Ritchie has played down the club’s chances of getting promoted to the Premier League through the play-offs in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds are on a great run of form and are aiming for a fifth win in six games against Championship high flyers Middlesbrough this weekend.

“My immediate response is to say no. The club are miles back from sixth place - They’d need a lot of results to fall into place for a top-six finish to happen,” wrote Ritchie.

Leeds are currently in 13th place on 38 points as things stand.

Gray’s admiration for McClaren

Sheffield Wednesday manager Stuart Gray has piled praise onto Derby County manager Steve McClaren in the Sheffield Star ahead of the clash between their sides this weekend.

Gray has admitted that McClaren has made the Rams a far tougher side to face up to in the Championship this season.

“Steve hasn’t stood still. He has improved the team. He has been backed and I would think their budget has probably gone up,” said Gray.

Gray may be trying to place a bit of pressure on McClaren in a subtle way ahead of the game.

Hudson highlights when the Terriers improved

Mark Hudson has told the Huddersfield Examiner that his side improved when they played promotion chasing Bournemouth.

Huddersfield head into their game this weekend after a 1-1 draw away at the Cherries in their last game.

“I thought we grew up as a group at Bournemouth, where we stuck rigidly to our gameplan,” he said.

Huddersfield take on Welsh club Cardiff this weekend and currently sit one place above them in 14th.
