Three Spurs stars who proved a big point against Fiorentina

Tottenham Hotspur Seats

Tottenham Hotspur couldn't get the win their early dominance deserved - but three of their stars still delivered encouraging displays v the Serie A side...

Andros Townsend

Erik Lamela, beware. On last night's evidence, Andros Townsend wants to make the right wing his own in the coming weeks for Tottenham. Possibly even during the Capital One Cup final...

Against Fiorentina, the 22-year-old delivered one of his better displays. Townsend can be one frustrating winger but, against the Serie A outfit, he caused problems for the opposition rather than his team-mates.

Beating his man at will and delivering dangerous crosses, the Spurs man certainly proved a point at White Hart Lane.

Nabil Bentaleb

Once again, the Algerian delivered for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

Far from proving anything new to Tottenham fans, however, this was a case of Nabil Bentaleb showing just how indispensable he is becoming for the north London side. The midfielder will surely need a rest soon - but when?

Every important game for Spurs could do with an in-form Bentaleb...

Roberto Soldado

The Spaniard has a big opportunity on his hands during a potentially season-defining period for Spurs and tucking away a superb finish against Fiorentina was certainly a good start when it came to taking that opportunity.

Soldado may have petered out for Tottenham as the Europa League tie progressed but Pochettino will likely take a Soldado that can score and needs substituting later on than a Soldado who can't score and still needs substituting later on.

The Spurs man produced a fine finish against the Serie A side and fans will hope he can continue to deputise for Harry Kane like that during their busy schedule.
