According to HLN, Villa have taken 16-year-old OHL striker Din Sula on a trial period ahead of offering him a permanent transfer to the Premier League. The forward currently plies his trade in the Under-17 divisions in his homeland, and has netted an impressive 37 goals already this term.
Named in the article as a 'physically strong striker’, the Kosovan-born Belgian certainly appears to hold a number of similarities with Villa’s own Benteke, and the Midlands club may see a bright future for the youngster. They have brought Sula’s entire entourage over to the Bodymoor Heath training ground, and have offered him tickets to this weekend’s game with Stoke City in an attempt to entice him in signing a contract with the club.
He was also taken on a tour of Villa Park, and was pictured next to Benteke’s shirt in the changing rooms, as per HLN journalist Dimitri Eeckhaut.
What does this mean for Aston Villa?
There is no indication that a deal is close to being completed, but even if one is, Sula will not be able to move to Villa Park until the start of next season. At his young age it is likely that he has been signed as a prospect for the future, but, if Villa are relegated to the Championship, and are forced to sell a number of their stars, it may be possible that Sula will be thrust into the Villains first-team at the start of the next campaign.
