Manchester United’s players have been put through their paces in training ahead of Saturday afternoon’s Premier League clash at ninth-placed Swansea City, with the returning Robin van Persie among those snapped at the Aon Training Complex.
The Dutchman was out injured for the 3-1 FA Cup win at Preston North End with an unspecified issue, but is now fit and available for the weekend’s trip to the Swans, where he has scored three goals in three top-flight games.
His return could well mean misfiring front man Radamel Falcao drops to the bench at the Liberty Stadium, although manager Louis van Gaal also has the option of pushing skipper Wayne Rooney back into midfielder, despite being one of the better performers against Preston in his favoured forward role.
Van Gaal will also welcome Phil Jones back from a knee problem as he seeks revenge for August’s 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford – his first competitive game in charge – but Michael Carrick remains sidelined with a ruptured calf muscle.
12 points off leaders Chelsea in third-place, United go into the Swansea clash having lost just one of their last 19 games, and have picked up the most points in the top-flight over the past 15 fixtures, boasting a record of 10 wins, four draws and one defeat.
