Not all smiles at Celtic as Stokes is internally disciplined

The 26-year-old has been disciplined by the club for returning late from a weekend trip in Dublin.

Celtic have internally disciplined Anthony Stokes for returning from Ireland a day late, according to the Daily Record.

The 26-year-old took a weekend trip to Dublin but returned on Tuesday - a day later than originally planned.

And Stokes has fallen foul of boss Ronny Deila's strict disciplinary code as a result, with the coach confirming: "There was a small thing we had to deal with and it was done internally."

The forward joined Celtic from Hibernian for a reported £800,000 fee in 2010 but has found himself far from the first name on Deila's teamsheet this term.

Stokes was completely left out of the Bhoys' dramatic 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in the Europa League last night, although Deila has stressed this was simply due to the competition for places at Celtic rather than disciplinary reasons.

But Stokes has nevertheless been dealt with for breaching his manager's code of conduct.

The 26-year-old is said by the Daily Record to have trained with the first team on Friday and could take part in their Scottish Premiership clash at Hamilton Academical on Sunday afternoon.

League-leaders Celtic sit just three points above second-placed Aberdeen, a lead that could evaporate if Aberdeen win on Saturday. The Bhoys will have the chance to hit back on Sunday, though, and will still have a game in hand thereafter.
