Manchester United round-up: Star’s contract latest; Valdes seeking house move

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Manchester United are preparing to offer midfielder Michael Carrick a new one-year contract.

The England international is currently out injured but he has proved to be a vital part of Louis van Gaal’s squad this season and United are said to want to extend his current deal.

United’s midfield has come in for some criticism this season but there is no doubt Carrick is integral to what van Gaal is trying to do at Old Trafford.

In other news, Spanish newspaper Sport reports that United goalkeeper Victor Valdes is looking for a new home closer to where his countrymen live in Manchester.

The report claims Valdes is looking to move closer to Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and David de Gea.

The former Barcelona player is yet to make his senior debut for the club despite signing on a free transfer earlier this season.

De Gea continues to play regardless of the competition and the report claims van Gaal does not yet believe Valdes is ready for a senior start at the club.
