Manchester City media round-up: Dzeko clarifies situation over his future

A round up of news stories this morning related to Manchester City.

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has been quoted by the Metro giving an update over his future.

There has been speculation that he could leave after the club completed a £28 million deal for Wilfried Bony during the January transfer window.

“I’ve said before and I will it say again, I am only focused on Manchester City and the national team. I am not interested in other speculation,” said the forward.

The comments will be music to the ears and eyes of Manuel Pellegrini, who will want to keep his best players at the club.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has sent out a warning to Manchester City in the Irish Examiner ahead of the Champions League game between the clubs.

Messi has suggested that his team are in good form ahead of the clash and have a great chance of winning as a result.

“We are now in a different dynamic and everything is going in the right direction. The team has confidence,” said the Argentine.

Messi is one of several Barca players that City need to keep quiet looking ahead to the game next week.

Sergio Aguero has been quoted by the Daily Star revealing his belief that Manchester City can still retain their Premier League title.

The Argentine striker feels his team can chase down a seven point gap from Chelsea at the top of the table over the remaining weeks.

“Why not? We were worse off in past seasons, we still won,” he said.

Manchester City take on Newcastle United this weekend.
