Peter Gulacsi was an understudy at the club before moving to Austria side Red Bull Salzburg.
Gulacsi was an understudy at Anfield for many years when Pepe Reina was the number one choice but seems to be starring on the bigger stage. Last night he was in action for Red Bull Salzburg as they lost the first leg of their Europa League tie to Villarreal 2-1, but his agent was impressed with his performance.
He took to twitter saying:
Very proud of Peter Gulacsi tonight against Villareal. Awesome display of goalkeeping. Showed tonight why some major clubs are tracking him.— James Lippett (@JamLipp78) February 19, 2015
The 24-year-old Hungarian spent a total of six years on the books at Liverpool from 2007 and had various loan spells within English football, including at Tranmere Rovers, Hereford United and Hull City before eventually getting his move to the Austrian club.
Gulacsi will now be hoping to keep a clean sheet in the second leg of the tie against the La Liga side, in the knowledge that if his side win without conceding they can book a place in the last 16 of the competition - with a possible return to Merseyside on the cards in the next round with both his former club Liverpool, and Everton, winning the first leg of their last 32 ties.
It looks as though it will be an interesting summer for the goalkeeper as we wait to find out just who may be interested in the Hungarian's services.
