The Greek international congratulated Jay Beatty on his accolade.
The Greek international scored 74 goals in 248 appearances for the club over a six year period that came to an end last summer. His contract expired and he moved for an unsuccessful spell at West Brom.
In February he left The Baggies on loan, joining Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal for the rest of the season.
But even if he is half way around the globe he still has time for his Celtic fans, especially one very special fan.
Little Jay Beatty from County Armagh is a massive Celtic fan, especially when it comes to his beloved Samaras. After Celtic won the Scottish Premier League title in May Samaras pulled Beatty from the crowd to celebrate with the team, so his face is well-known at Celtic Park.
Recently the 11-year-old, who suffers from Down's Syndrome, was given the chance to take a shot at goal at half-time of Celtic's win v Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park. The moment went viral and Scottish football fans united in voting for him as their SPL Goal of the Month winner for January.
He received 97% of the votes for the award and of course received a special message from his favourite player Samaras:
With all the troubles in modern football, Celtic, Hamilton, Samaras and all of Scottish football have really done this one right.
