Ex-Bradford star: Leeds ace tremendous and Sam Byram will play in the Premier League

Former Bradford City winger Peter Beagrie has been raving about Leeds United's talented youngsters.

Former Bradford City and Manchester City attacker Peter Beagrie has been talking up Leeds United's talented youngsters.

Neil Redfearn's side are currently blossoming after a difficult winter period, and young players who have come through the academy ranks are at the heart of it.

Leeds currently sit 13th in the Championship table, and face league leaders Middlesbrough at Elland Road this weekend. A win would be significant, and wipe away any languishing fears of relegation.

Beagrie has hailed the young players inspiring the form, even if he failed to mention match winner against Millwall last weekend, Alex Mowatt.

He told SkySports: "Charlie Taylor at left-back has replaced Stephen Warnock and been terrific. He is a tremendous player who can go forward and is strong and athletic.

"Lewis Cook in midfield gets better every time he plays, he is still physically developing but has a big heart and is technically very gifted.

"Sam Byram I think will play Premier League football. He is a modern day full-back who gets down the right and has an eye for goal as well."

Many fans were worried when Warnock was moved on, but Taylor has shown why Leeds were comfortable selling the former Liverpool and Aston Villa full-back to Derby County earlier this month, while Cook is a player hailed by Beagrie's SkySports colleague Paul Merson just last weekend.

Byram is a player who is more established than either, but his recent forays as a midfielder are new to him, and he is taking to it well, netting two goals in his last four matches.

He was a player linked to Premier League high fliers Southampton by The Star last summer, but if Leeds have it their way, when he plays in the top flight of English football, it will be for them, even if promotion this season may be a step too far.
