Chelsea media round-up: Details of the club's reported offer to Mourinho

A round up of news stories this morning related to Chelsea.

ESPN claims Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is set to sign a new contract this summer.

Chelsea reportedly want to reward Mourinho for a good season at the Blues so far, as they sit top of the Premier League, in a League Cup final and well placed in the Champions League.

The offer which will reportedly go in front of the Portuguese coach will cover the next four years, taking him through to 2019 at the club.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has told the Independent that Chelsea need to win some silverware this season.

He’s suggested that Mourinho won’t consider them one of Chelsea’s ‘great’ teams until they do.

“Great teams have to win trophies first, which means that Chelsea have had a great team when they won back-to-back league titles but they are still a long way off,” wrote Scholes.

Chelsea are well placed to pick up silverware on three fronts by the end of the campaign.

Micah Richards has been quoted by the Metro claiming he turned down a move to Chelsea earlier in his career out of respect for Manchester City.

The Blues are one of the sides alleged to have made a move to sign him when he was in England.

He now finds himself playing in Serie A with Fiorentina.

“I had a chance to go to Chelsea five years ago – but I didn’t feel it was right,” said the defender.
