Aliens galore as 20th Century Fox reveal details for Alien 5 and Prometheus 2
Big news for fans of Ridley Scott's Alien franchise as 20th Century Fox announce they are working on the long awaited Prometheus sequel as well as a surprise Alien movie that will be separate to the Prometheus movies.
News about Prometheus 2 will be unsurprising to most as this was always supposed to be a two part movie. Fans will be pleased to finally get some news on the sequel though as they have been waiting since 2012 for the conclusion to the Alien origin story. Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner) will direct the sequel, which is due for release in 2016. Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, Inglourious Basterds, X-Men: First Class) will reprise his role of the android David along with Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Drop, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), who will reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw.
The biggest news this week though has to be the announcement of an as yet un-named Alien movie, currently being referred to as Alien 5. details are sketchy as to whether or not the movie will follow on from 1997's Alien Resurrection or if it will be a reboot.
What we do know however is that one of Hollywood's most innovative storytellers and directors Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie, Elysium) will direct the movie with Ridley Scott producing. This is extremely exciting news and we believe that Blomkamp is the best choice for the movie. His movies have the right kind of gritty realism that will make a new Alien movie a must watch release. Whilst details are thin on the ground, rumours have been rife that Sigourney Weaver will reprise her role as Ripley.
Neill Blomkamp made an announcement on his Instagram confirming the project saying simply "So I think this is officially my next film".
We are extremely excited to see what Neill Blomkamp and Ridley Scott can come up with and will, of course, keep you updated as further details are announced.
