Three Everton stars who proved a big point against Young Boys

Everton recorded a convincing 4-1 win over Young Boys in the Europa League last night. Here are three players who stood out...

Romelu Lukaku

With all the talk surrounding the Belgian lately after his... unfortunate... comments about one day moving to a 'top club,' Romelu Lukaku needed a big performance for Everton.

And he certainly produced one in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Lukaku's eventual hat-trick before going off late on could easily have been more and the Everton striker made things look easy against Young Boys, as though he really was in a class of his own - one far beyond the reach of his Swiss opponents.

Steven Naismith

The 28-year-old received a slight injury at the end of the 4-1 win and Everton fans will hope it isn't too serious.

While on the pitch, however, Steven Naismith proved he can be a big player for the Toffees during the business end of the European campaign. Working as hard as ever, the Scot was vital to Everton's hopes going forward - and linked up superbly with Lukaku.

Tim Howard

After a poor start against the Swiss side, with Tim Howard receiving criticism for his part in the opening goal, the Everton goalkeeper bounced back.

The 35-year-old made a crucial double save later on and rarely put a foot wrong thereafter. It's easy to fold under pressure after a mistake on any stage, let alone in Europe, and Howard proved his experience is still holding him in good stead after returning to the starting line-up.
