New West Ham signing Nene with Morgan Amalfitano.

New West Ham signing Nene will find at least one familiar face as he gets to know his new teammates.

The Hammers have confirmed via their official website that they have signed the Brazilian as a free agent, after his time with Qatar based side Al Ghafari expired.

Formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, Nene was previously a Ligue 1 top scorer and was a key figure for the club during Carlo Ancelotti's early spell as boss.

He is pictured above competing with current Hammers loanee Morgan Amalfitano during a league clash with Lorient bac in 2009.

29-year-old Amalfitano is currently serving a ban after his red card against West Brom at the weekend.

Nene told the club website upon signing he wants to repay the club for showing faith in him: "I am very excited and happy to be here. I'm proud to come to a really big club like West Ham and I'm going to do my best to help the team.

"It's a really good challenge for me, to come to a competition like the Premier League. It's the most competitive in the world so this is the motivation for me."

Nene also has Champions League experience with the French side, and has played alongside a talented pony-tailed striker with the technique - and fitness - Andy Carroll can only dream of.
