Newcastle supporters react angrily on Twitter after Dummett injury absence confirmed

Newcastle United have a serious lack of cover in defence after Paul Dummett's injury.

Newcastle United supporters have reacted furiously on social media site Twitter after the Chronicle reported that Paul Dummett's injury will keep him out for eight weeks.

Dummett has damaged his kneecap and looks set to remain on the sidelines until April.

It means that the Magpies have just four senior defenders at their disposal and the club's January transfer business has been slammed by their supporters.

Newcastle allowed all of Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Davide Santon, Remie Streete and Kevin Mbabu to leave the club and it looks to have been a terrible decision.

With Steven Taylor already out injured for the season, they have been left with a severe lack of cover and it means that John Caver will be forced to select Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson as his defensive pairing.

Although Coloccini was likely to be a regular feature in Newcastle's first-team even if everyone was fit there are serious doubts over Williamson's quality.

The rangy centre-back can be exposed against Premier League opposition and his lack of mobility is a major concern.

The whole situation seemed avoidable had Newcastle just showed slightly more foresight and their supporters have been left very frustrated with the news of Dummett's injury.

Here is the best reaction on from Newcastle fans on Twitter.
