Millwall drop Magaye Gueye because he is too fat

The Den, Millwall

Ian Holloway has told the winger to lose weight or not play for the club.

Many a professional footballer has to battle with their weight. For some it simply cannot be helped, they are built a certain way. Just this week famously round Manchester United flop Anderson came off 37 minutes into a game in Bolivia. The altitude is something else there but he is supposed to be a professional footballer.

Andy Reid, Wayne Rooney, Brian Jensen, Carlos Tevez, Benni McCarthy, Ronaldo... there have been plenty of players over the years accused of piling on the pounds.

That has been the case at Millwall this week, where Ian Holloway has told winger Magaye Gueye he will not play for the team again until he sheds some pounds.

It was reported by The Mirror this week that the Millwall boss had said of the winger:

“He has to get back under the [body fat] ratio I want if he wants to play for this club again. It is quite simple,"

Gueye arrived at Millwall in the summer after being released by Everton. The French born Senegalese under-23 international signed a one-year deal at The Den with an extension optional.

Judging by his recent battle with the bulge a permanent move for this former Toffee is looking very unlikely.
