The West Brom man would have no doubt faced the young Swedish striker in training - even if not all too frequently with the 22-year-old constantly being sent out on loan.
This season, Guidetti is on loan at Celtic, a club he could choose to join on a permanent deal over the summer as his contract is up at Manchester City.
Last night, he reminded Celtic boss Ronny Deila why persuading him to come on board full-time could prove a masterstroke. Late on against Inter Milan, the Bhoys trailed 3-2 and Guidetti stepped up to net a sweet equaliser to level it at 3-3.
West Brom's Lescott was impressed, tweeting his praise for the young Celtic striker after the game.
Just seen @superguidetti goal for Celtic . This guy scores goals— Joleon Lescott (@JoleonLescott) February 19, 2015
Could Guidetti be back to his best for the Bhoys? If offered the chance, Lescott would probably have the young Swede with him over at West Brom any day.
The question now is whether the forward can consistently produce a high enough level at Celtic for Deila to have absolutely no option but to bow to his demands in negotiations.
For now, though, 'Super Guidetti' can simply enjoy the fact he is once again proving a cult hero in Scotland.
