Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would be the first to admit that he wishes his team were still in the Champions League.
Liverpool find themselves playing European football on a Thursday night for the rest of the season, but the Europa League is not to be sniffed at because it provides a way into the Champions League for next season.
Rodgers may have one eye on the Premier League game against Southampton this weekend, but his team have to make the most of their home advantage for two main reasons.
Firstly, Besiktas are a very difficult and experienced European side to play against, who will be defending deep to try and stay in the game before they get the chance to play at home.
Secondly, when the Reds have to travel to Turkey for the second game, they are likely to be up against it in terms pressure in a difficult and intimidating atmosphere.
Rodgers is also likely to want the luxury of being able to rest players for the second game ahead of the next round, with focus moving back to the league.
