Chuba Akpom has high praise for 'very good' Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi

Iwobi, the nephew of Jay-Jay Okocha, and Akpom have known each other since nursery.

Jay-Jay Okocha was one of the Premier League’s more mercurial talents. But nowadays his nephew Alex Iwobi is hoping to follow in his footsteps but not at Bolton, but with Arsenal in the future.

The attacker, who became a professional at the club in 2014, has been snapped in training with the Arsenal first-team this season.

Iwobi is yet to make his first-team debut for the club, but was on the bench for a League Cup tie against West Brom back in 2013. A regular with the Arsenal under-21s, Iwobi is also an England youth international, despite his Nigerian heritage - so he certainly has bags of talent.

One player he can take inspiration from is Chuba Akpom. The Arsenal striker recently leapfrogged Yaya Sanogo in the Arsenal pecking order and has become a first-team regular. He has played seven games for the club so far this season and while the striker is still awaiting his first goal for the club he is clearly a top talent for the future.

Today he held a question and answer session with Arsenal fans on Twitter, in which he was asked his opinion on Iwobi. He revealed that the pair were good friends, knowing each other from the age of five, and that he rated his mate very highly:

Here is hoping that Iwobi can also make it into the Arsenal first-team one day, as the pair of school-kid friends teaming up together up front is such a wonderful image.
