Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid has revealed to the Shields Gazette that he has full confidence the side can rack up wins over the next few weeks.
The 22-year-old has stressed a determined message as Newcastle stare at the possibility of a top eight place in the Premier League and the potential of Europe by the end of the season.
“We have a good team and a lot of quality in the team – now we have to show it every week,” he said.
“Hopefully, we will have many, many more wins in the future.”
Newcastle have two difficult matches before the end of February, as they travel to Manchester City before hosting Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa.
While the game will be difficult, they provide the chance for the team to build some momentum looking ahead to March.
Newcastle can take heart from the way Hull City recently performed at Manchester City, grabbing a 1-1 draw.
City will have one eye on their Champions League game against Barcelona next week, while Newcastle’s only focus for the rest of the season is the Premier League.
Aston Villa will be a difficult side to get the better of because of the boost Tim Sherwood coming in as their manager will give the side and that could make them more difficult to play against.
Wins will also help the side’s confidence over the next few weeks, which is significant with some younger players coming into the side and looking to make an impression. It may seem obvious but it’s a sensible message from the Newcastle star.
