Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley has heaped praised onto the club’s current boss John Carver in the Chronicle.
Charnley has stressed the positive qualities of Carver’s determined attitude at the club, which suggest why he could get the Newcastle job beyond this season.
“I know that from first thing in the morning until the last thing at night he is giving it everything he’s got and driving the staff and players,” said Charnley.
“He is desperate to get the right results.”
Carver’s work hard mentality is positive for the club because it suggests he won’t stop working to get the club into a good position on the Premier League table.
His contract expires at the end of the season and he can improve his chances of getting the job on a long term basis if he guides the side into the top eight, with the potential of European football for next season.
In terms of a manager who identifies with the club and represents all of the positive values that Newcastle United stand for, there’s no one better.
The Chronicle points out that he’s already suffered some criticism from Newcastle fans, during the game against Crystal Palace, but he seems determined to develop the side in a positive way for the club.
He’s raw in terms of his experience but the basic things he’s trying to achieve are encouraging.
As is with the case with so many managers in top flight football all over the world, he needs time to show what he can really do and Charnley’s comments suggest he might just get it.
