Over the past few years Arsenal have had quite a few centre-back duds in their ranks. .
Pascal Cygan, Igor Stepanovs, Philippe Senderos, Johan Djourou and of course Sebastien Squillaci.
Squillaci signed for the club in 2010 for a fee reported to be in the region of £6.5 million from Sevilla, according to The Daily Mail. He arrived an experienced French international who would surely be a success at the club.
But he never really made the grade at The Emirates and after his first season, he played just seven more times over the next two years.
When his contract expired in the summer of 2013, he returned to France. He signed for Corsican club Bastia on a free transfer. His absence was not exactly sorely felt by the Arsenal faithful.
While his time at Arsenal was forgettable he has gone on to become an excellent member of the Bastia side. He has become a regular starter and has impressed so much that the club have rewarded him with a new contract today.

He has signed a one-year extension to his current deal.
While Squillaci was never the best player at Arsenal he was still respected by many. Throughout his time of sitting on the bench and playing in the reserves he also kept himself quiet, never moaning in the process and always giving his all when called upon.
So it is good to see he has found his place since moving away from the club.
