Sutton suggests it would be a surprise if Griffiths doesn't start against Inter

Celtic Champions League

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has suggested Leigh Griffiths will start against Inter Milan this week.

Former Celtic player Chris Sutton has told the Glasgow Evening Times he can’t see past Leigh Griffiths starting for the Bhoys against Inter Milan this week.

Sutton feels young forward John Guidetti has been unfortunate due to Griffiths’ form, which he feels will lead to the striker getting the nod for the big clash against the Serie A giants.

“In fairness to Griffiths, he's looking exceptionally sharp, and it would be an enormous surprise if he didn't start against Inter,” said Sutton.

“With Guidetti, though, he has proved he can score goals. I just think he needs a run in the team.”

It makes perfect sense for Celtic boss Ronny Deila to go with his in form players for the game considering the experience and quality that Inter Milan have in their line-up.

The time to makes changes and experiment will come in situations where the Bhoys have more room for comfort.

For example, it will be easier for Deila to bring players into the team in the SPL if the Bhoys can develop a lead over their title rivals.

Deila and Celtic need to play on the positive mentality Griffiths will currently be taking into key games.

He has a spring in his step, extra motivation and motivation which will make his confidence rock solid.

He needs to use that to his advantage in Europe this week to try and give his side a lead ahead of an important second leg in Italy where the Bhoys are going to be under heavy pressure.
