Tottenham Hotspur should be looking to sign Stevan Jovetic in the summer after his Manchester City future has been plunged into doubt.
Jovetic has been omitted from City's Champions League squad after the arrival of Wilfried Bony and it seems that he could be set to exit the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The Montenegrin has made no secret of his annoyance with Manuel Pellegrini, with his comments to Sky Sports suggesting that he was analysing his options, and it has opened up the possibility of a move this summer..
“The manager has killed me with this decision," he said. "I feel I deserve my place and other people have told me the same. People have told me I am a great player but it is clear that the manager does not think the same way.
“I am very disappointed, even now. I don’t think it was a good decision or the right decision. I know that I deserve to be on the list. I told the manager this but he did not want to listen to me. I came here to play in the Champions League.
“I have not made any decision about my future,” he said. “I will wait until the summer, then we will see. But the manager has put other players ahead of me, so maybe this is a message about what he wants to do."
This quotes are likely to attract a number of suitors and Tottenham need to ensure they are at the front of the queue for his signature.
Spurs have been looking for a goalscoring front man to lead their line for a number of seasons and Jovetic could be the perfect man to fill that void in their squad.
Although Harry Kane's form this season has been nothing short of spectacular, they are particularly reliant on the 21-year-old for goals and Jovetic could take some of this burden off him.
The former Fiorentina striker has not received much of a chance since moving to City in 2013, but when on the pitch he has impressed.
A clinical finisher, with a wonderful first-touch, Jovetic has netted eight times in 28 appearances for the club.
It is a record which looks unremarkable, but when considering that only 11 of his displays have been from the start it looks a very impressive tally.
It means that his exclusion could be a harsh move from City, but Tottenham should make sure they benefit from the current Premier League champions' ruthlessness.
Jovetic would arrive at White Hart Lane with a point to prove and his signing would be a step in the right direction for the North London outfit.
