Southampton star sends reassuring message to club's fans on Twitter

Southampton's Ryan Bertrand insists that he will be ready for action as soon as his suspension expires.

Ryan Bertrand has taken to Twitter today to express his frustration at having to miss so much first-team action of late.

Bertrand has been suspended since the start of February, after he picked up a red card during Southampton's defeat to Swansea City, and he has clearly had enough of sitting on the sidelines.

Unfortunately for the left-back, he will have to watch from afar when Southampton take on Liverpool this weekend, but he has moved to reassure fans that when he does return he will be at his very best.

"Feels like forever since my last game," he wrote on the social media site. "Frustrating. But I'm working hard every day so when I'm back... IM BACK."

Bertrand is due to come back into Southampton's team when they take on West Bromwich Albion on February 28th and he will be looking to make up for lost time.

Bertrand has been one of the Saints' key performers this season, as highlighted by the fact the club made his loan deal a permanent one in the previous transfer window, and his return will be a major boost.

Southampton have built their success this season on the strength of their defence, which is the best in the entirety of the Premier League, and Bertrand's inclusion in the team means that the likelihood of them keeping clean sheets is improved.

The rapid defender is also capable going forward and Southampton's chances of a top-four spot will be hugely improved if they are able to keep him in the team for the rest of the season.
