Philippe Coutinho’s influence at Liverpool emphasised by assists stat

The Brazil international has laid-on four Premier League goals this season, leading the Reds to three victories.

One of the most impressive features of Liverpool’s campaign in 2014-15 has been the continued development of key playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian midfielder’s importance as a creative force in Brendan Rodgers’ side has been highlighted by some excellent individual performances this season and it appears that when he is on form, Liverpool win.

The former Inter Milan schemer has offered up four assists in the Premier League this term, with the Anfield outfit claiming maximum points when Coutinho has set up a goal for a team-mate.

The South American provided assists for both of Liverpool’s goals in the recent 2-0 victory over West Ham, while also setting up Raheem Sterling’s winner against Burnley and one of the goals in the 4-1 triumph over Swansea.

There is no doubting that Rodgers will urge his side to try to find Coutinho in space and provide him with possession, as the Brazilian has the vision and guile to unlock opposition defences.

That said, the Merseyside club’s fanbase will surely feel that Coutinho can still improve and will become even more of an essential team members as he develops at Anfield.
