Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has told the Shields Gazette several positives have been create through John Carver’s management in the club’s last three games.
Newcastle didn’t play over the weekend, as they were already out of the FA Cup and the Dutch shot stopper has stressed the positives of recent performances looking ahead to the difficult away game against Manchester City this weekend.
“We could have won (against Palace), and we could have had nine points and three clean sheets. We have to look at the positives,” said Krul.
Newcastle are building a little bit of momentum and that’s important considering how difficult the game against City is likely to be.
Newcastle are looking to break into the top eight as quickly as possible and if they can go another game unbeaten after the City fixture, they’ll be in a very good position.
Carver has been given plenty of time to prepare for facing City as he looks for the best approach to take into the game this weekend.
There will be a confidence within the Newcastle squad in what Carver is trying to achieve because of the small unbeaten run.
The team have to draw on that confidence and positive feeling because City have the team to dominate possession and wear Newcastle down.
However, if City are thoroughly tested against Barcelona in the Champions League, Newcastle could take advantage of a little fatigue and pile on the pressure.
