Chelsea morning round-up: Double PSG injury blow ahead of Champions League clash

A round up of news stories this morning related to Chelsea.

The Independent has reported that Paris Saint-Germain are facing an injury crisis ahead of the Champions League game against Chelsea.

Midfielder Yohan Cabaye and defender Marquinhos both had to be taken off in their league game over the weekend.

However, forwards Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi are both expected to be fit for the game.

PSG defender Thiago Silva has been quoted by the Daily Mirror saying Chelsea forward Diego Costa doesn’t scare the French club.

Costa has been Chelsea’s key attacking figure this season, making a big impact at the club after a move from Atletico Madrid.

“That is no problem, that is the reason you want to play at this level, to do battle against the best players in the world,” said Silva.

Silva has also taken a subtle dig at Costa by suggesting that he couldn’t play for a nation other than the one he grew up in, as Costa has done with Spain.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been quoted by the Daily Telegraph saying he’s been challenged to score more goals.

The Belgian has been in fine form this season, but the Blues boss wants him to add more physical success to his game.

“We [Hazard and Mourinho] would both like for me to score more. Us forwards need to score and to pass,” said Hazard.

It should be encouraging for Chelsea fans that the club’s manager is taking such an active role in looking to develop players who are already at a top class level.
