Sports presenter hints at late-season struggles for West Ham United

Sports presenter Richard Keys has hinted that West Ham United may not win many more games this season.

Well-known sports presenter Richard Keys has told Premier League observers on social networking site Twitter to keep a count on how many more games West Ham United win this season.

The Hammers have endured a difficult past few days, losing striker Andy Carroll to injury for the rest of the campaign - as reported by the club's official website - before succumbing to a 4-0 FA Cup loss at West Bromwich Albion.

It tops off a rather miserable run of form for Sam Allardyce’s men, as they currently preside over a run of just one Premier League victory in eight matches.

It wasn’t too long ago that the East Londoners were being labelled as top-four challengers this season after a strong start to the season which included home wins over Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, Carroll’s absence is likely to have an adverse effect on their goal scoring ability and Stewart Downing’s dip in form has coincided with their recent misfortunes.

With Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs to play over the next four matches, it’s not looking too good for the Upton Park outfit and Richard Keys feels an end of season struggle is now a distinct possibility.

He said: “Didn’t expect W Brom to win that big today. Keep a count on how many more games the Hammers win this season.”

West Ham currently occupy eighth position in the Premier League table, eight points behind fourth-placed Southampton and six points ahead of Newcastle United in 11th.

A top-half position remains a realistic target, but there is little denying that the FA Cup and compact nature of the Premier League represents a wasted opportunity for the Hammers to achieve something big this season.
