The Belgian and the Czech are fighting for the first-team place at Stamford Bridge.
This season has seen Jose Mourinho have a truly brilliant selection issue regarding his goalkeepers. Not many teams in world football have the luxury of two goalkeepers with the quality that Chelsea have in the case of Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech.
Courtois arrived from Atletico Madrid in the summer after several seasons away from the club on loan. He came back as one of the best goalkeepers in the world but Cech is one of the most consistent in the game, it certainly leaves Jose Mourinho with a pleasant selection headache.
Today, the younger model Courtois, has spoken to UEFA.com about training and playing alongside the Czech legend. He says that the competition being served by both stoppers is certainly improving their respective performances:
"It is not really that I will improve a lot being at his side, but I know how he trains and the level we are achieving in training is so high that you improve ... if he makes a great save, you want to make a great save too. So I think we keep each other on a very high level, which is really nice. He has been a world-class goalkeeper for so long. If he says something, if he knows something that you maybe don't know about the Premier League, you listen and you can learn from that."
Chelsea fans and neutrals have certainly been impressed by the performances of Courtois this season but Cech is still a fan favourite and has proven he has not lost any of his ability this season. He has kept five clean sheets from his five appearances in the Premier League this season and in the most recent game against Everton he kept Romelu Lukaku out with two excellent saves.
If the pair continue to push each other in the way they are then there is no doubt Chelsea will continue to have top options regardless of who starts for the club.
