Newcastle United crock Siem De Jong is out of hospital after latest injury blow

The Dutchman's season has been struck by injury turmoil.

Newcastle United snapped up Dutch international Siem De Jong in the summer, a fantastic purchase that looked like being an excellent coup.

He reportedly cost the club £6 million, according to the Daily Mail, which looked a bargain for the attacking midfielder turned striker.

However it has not quite gone to plan for the 26-year-old since his arrival at the club.

He suffered a torn groin muscle in September and had was ruled out until the new year. It looked like he was set to return to action in the coming weeks, until he suffered another problem.

He suffered a collapsed lung earlier in the week and underwent surgery on Tuesday to remedy a problem he has suffered before whilst at Ajax two years ago.

He has been ruled out of action for the next eight weeks, essentially finishing off a season that has never really got off the ground.

But at least he is now out of the hospital. He took to Instagram this afternoon to one, show off his promotional material for adidas and secondly, inform Newcastle United fans that he is back home after his trip to hospital.

Unfortunately 2014-15 looks like a write off for De Jong. The best thing now for him and Newcastle is to ensure he is back in action and as fit as possible for next season.
